Hi all, We are a couple moving to East Bay area in October for my new employment. My work location is in Livermore. I am looking for feedback on which cities to consider for living. I do not drive and looking for places close to public transport (BART/Wheels) and grocery stores. I am currently thinking of Dublin/Pleasanton/Livermore. I need your inputs on the following queries.
(1) Is it better to opt for a short-term rental for 1-2 months initially and then look for a better place.
(2) Any other cities that I missed in my earlier list.
(3) What are the best websites to search for rentals. Is craiglist ‘the’ best resource?
(4) Are there any places available from October for 1-2 month rental for a couple.
(5) what is the average rent, can I find a 1 bedroom flat within $1600/month.

Welcome to east bay. Dublin is affordable and a peaceful place to live.
Yes for Bart and shopping center Dublin is convenient especially Hacienda is perfect

If you are going to work at Livermore, certainly your list is right.

Rent.com – as they give $100 gift card when signup the lease. But there is no one website that can always get you a good deal.. so search as many website as you can and call the apartment offices too..

You need to do a search.. may be I can refer you in my apartment community ..

Not in Dublin/Pleasanton atleast. It’s pretty expensive, livermore is kind of okay when compared to dublin and pleasanton.
if you drive, daily commute is not through bart and want to save little in rent, livermore is a best bet.
