“We believe representative media is important for everyone and especially for children as it directly helps build their self-esteem and sense of identity. We all want to see ourselves reflected in books and other forms of content.”

Indian Moms Connect proudly presents – FSACC ’16 (Festival of South Asian Children’s Content) on November 5th at ICC Milpitas.
The Festival of South Asian Children’s Content will be a not-for-profit event held in the Bay Area (ICC Milpitas), California on Saturday, November 5th, 2016.
The idea is to bring together like-minded creators in the South Asian Children’s Content space to collaborate, network and reach out to the larger community to spread awareness about quality content that is available. At the same time, the event will be open to the public to purchase books and more, participate in storytelling and craft sessions and interact with the authors and publishers.festival-of-south-asian-childrens-content

  • 6 pm onward – Interactive Q&A Sessions with authors Mitali Perkins and Nandini Bajpai
  • Followed by a networking dinner.

Don’t think you can dance? We have free lessons starting at 7:15 PM and 8:00 PM if you are a novice or just looking get back into the groove. The steps are basic and most people pick up the dance within 30 minutes of the lesson.

The classes are led by ITTF certified coach and course conductor Shashin Shodhan who has represented the US in many international competitions including the North American Olympic Trials where he was one of the top performers. Shashin owns the Fremont Table Tennis Academy which is one of the top performing clubs in the nation awarded the designation as a USA Table Tennis National Center of Excellence. Chess instructor Guarang Mehta is a coach who has traveled to many World Chess Olympiad and World Chess Championships representing National Indian Teams. As a FIDE-rated 2120 (equivalent to USCF rating of 2000+) and international FIDE arbiter, he arrived in the U.S. in 2000 as the coach of the Indian Team with Grand Master Barua in the World Championship at Las Vegas. He has also traveled with many top Indian GMs like former World Champion Anand, Shashikiran, Harikrishnan to name a few.
He has a natural gift and patience in working with kids which has been proven through his students’ achievements. His students Alisha, Hiya, and Agunes, have qualified for Team USA in the World Youth Championships and Cameron Whiller took home the silver medal with a recent USCF rating of 2280. Furthermore, he has authored 2 books on chess playing.
