Pick-up From Green Elementary–Dublin

Hi, We are looking for someone to pick up our daughter from Green. We live near Positano. She is in 1st grade. Our first preference is to find someone that can pick her up at 2 on Monday/Tuesday and 3 on the other days and take her to after school activities that start at 4.30 on Monday and 3.30 on Tues/Thurs. You can just drop her there and we can pick her up after that, or if you need more hours, you can bring her home too. All her activities are within 5 miles from where we live.
If you live near Green, you can pick her up and take her to your house where we can pick her up around 5.30 or you can bring her to our house and watch her till 5.30. If your child goes to Green and attends other after school activities, we can enroll her in those too so that you can take them both.
In addition to that we are looking for someone from 5.30 to 8.15 in the mornings. Your duties include getting the kids ready for school, dropping one to Green and dropping another to a daycare which is in the same area. My number is 402-770-4165.

Need Nanny for Danville area 2 yr and 6 yr old – Great Salary with paid holiday leave

Hello: We are looking for a full time nanny for our 2 year old son and 5 year old daughter. Our daughter is in school from noon to 4. Timings for the job would be 8:00 to 6 on weekdays.

Responsibilities would include:
– Feeding the kids breakfast in the morning and general play/park time for the 2 year old and 5 year old right next to home
– Getting the 5 year old to school at noon after lunch – school is a 5 min walk or 2 min car ride. Have to take the 2 year old along as well.
– Bath and nap for 2 year old in the afternoon between 1 and 3. Time for kids laundry and kids room clean up – pick up toys, fold kids clothes etc
– 5 year old daughter is back home from school at 4, give her a bath and snack and supervise some homework etc.
– Help in preparing dinner for kids before departure
– Prefer car and driving ability with good driving record. If not, then getting to work and back on time needs to be ensured as both parents work and commute to the peninsula – so timing is sensitive.

Our existing nanny is leaving soon as we have recently moved from San Francisco to Danville and the commute from SF to Danville is too much for her. We are looking for someone loving and able to take her place in our family. Very good salaried pay (not hourly) with leave. Please respond to Rima at 713.392.1606 or to the email: [email protected]. Looking for someone to start in immediately.

How to find someone good and reliable for a service you need?

Good help is hard to find. As you go through different stages of life or move from one location to another, you need different services.  For example, when you move, you need a good mover. You also have to find a good mechanic, physician, dentist, and other providers close to your new home. Similarly, when you have a kid, you need to find a good pediatrician, or after you buy a house, you may need a good gardener, plumber, electrician, handyman and other providers.

How do you find someone good for a service that you need? You could look up on Yellow pages or use Google search, but these sources just provide a listing of service providers. You cannot tell the good ones from the bad ones. Obviously, you would like to find a reputable provider for whatever service you need.

The other option is looking at online review sites such as Yelp or Angie’s list. However, Yelp is geared more towards restaurants and Angie’s list requires a paid subscription. But more importantly, can you trust the reviews posted on these sites by people you don’t know? Are those reviews really objective and unbiased? What you would like to have is a recommendation from someone you know and trust.

So the safest and least expensive option is to ask your friends. Whatever you are looking for, chances are someone in your circle of friends has used the same service sometime in the past. So why not tap into your social network to find a good reliable provider for the service you need? If your friend likes his gardener, maybe you should use the same gardener. If your cousin likes the law-firm that she uses, perhaps you might want to use the same law firm. Similarly, if your neighbor likes her music teacher, you might want to talk to that music teacher.

A recently launched Danville based new online service called Trustrecs (http://www.trustrecs.com) makes it really easy for you to tap into your social circle to find a good provider. The service is free and in beta right now.  It helps you get trustworthy recommendations at zero cost. Try it and let me know what you think.
